To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block for hip fracture surgery under spinal anesthesia.
This meta-analysis was registered on INPLASY (INPLASY202270005). PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, CNKI, and Wanfang databases were searched to collect the randomized controlled trials of the PENG block applied to hip fracture surgery in the setting of spinal anesthesia, with the search period from inception to 1 May 2023. Two independent researchers gradually screened the literature, evaluated the quality, extracted the data, and eventually pooled data using RevMan 5.4.
Fifteen articles with 890 patients were enrolled. The combined results showed that the PENG block reduced pain scores during position placement (SMD = -0.35; 95% CI [-0.67, 0.02]; 
The PENG block can reduce postoperative pain and pain during spinal anesthesia positioning, which is helpful to improve the operability and comfort of spinal anesthesia and facilitate postoperative muscle strength recovery and early activity.

LIMITED EVIDENCE SUGGESTS SURVIVAL OF NON-SPLINTED SHORT IMPLANTS (≤8.5 MM) IS COMPARABLE TO THAT OF SPLINTED IMPLANTS.

Health utility assessments have been developed for various conditions, including chronic liver disease. Health utility scores are required for socio-economic evaluations, which can aid the distribution of national budgets. However, the standard health utility assessment scores for specific health conditions are largely unknown.
To summarize the health utility scores, including the EuroQOL 5-dimensions 5-levels (EQ-5D-5L), EuroQol-visual analogue scale, short from-36 (SF-36), RAND-36, and Health Utilities Index (HUI)-Mark2/Mark3 scores, for the normal population and chronic liver disease patients.
A systematic literature search of PubMed and MEDLINE, including the Cochrane Library, was performed. Meta-analysis was performed using the RevMan software. Multiple means and standard deviations were combined using the StatsToDo online web program.
The EQ-5D-5L and SF-36 can be used for health utility evaluations during antiviral therapy for hepatitis C. HUI-Mark2/Mark3 indicated that the health utility scores of hepatitis B patients are roughly 30% better than those of hepatitis C patients.
The EQ-5D-5L is the most popular questionnaire for health utility assessments. Health assessments that allow free registration would be useful for evaluating health utility in patients with liver disease.

OVER THE COUNTER ANALGESICS ARE EFFECTIVE IN TREATING ORTHODONTIC PAIN.

To systematically compare and rank the accuracy of AI-based intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation formulas and traditional IOL formulas in highly myopic eyes.
We screened PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases for studies published from inception to April 2023. The following outcome data were collected: mean absolute error (MAE), percentage of eyes with a refractive prediction error (PE) within ±0.25, ±0.50, and ±1.00 diopters (D), and median absolute error (MedAE). The network meta-analysis was conducted by R 4.3.0 and STATA 17.0.
Twelve studies involving 2,430 adult myopic eyes (with axial lengths >26.0 mm) that underwent uncomplicated cataract surgery with mono-focal IOL implantation were included. The network meta-analysis of 21 formulas showed that the top three AI-based formulas, as per the surface under the cumulative ranking curve (SUCRA) values, were XGBoost, Hill-RBF, and Kane. The three formulas had the lowest MedAE and were more accurate than traditional vergence formulas, such as SRK/T, Holladay 1, Holladay 2, Haigis, and Hoffer Q regarding MAE, percentage of eyes with PE within ±0.25, ±0.50, and ±1.00 D.
The top AI-based formulas for calculating IOL power in highly myopic eyes were XGBoost, Hill-RBF, and Kane. They were significantly more accurate than traditional vergence formulas and ranked better than formulas with Wang-Koch AL modifications or newer generations of formulas such as Barrett and Olsen.

The accuracy of intraocular lens power calculation formulas based on artificial intelligence in highly myopic eyes: a systematic review and network meta-analysis.

Mounting clinical studies have reported patients with schizophrenia are at high risk of developing sexual dysfunction (SD), but a directly calculated prevalence of SD is currently lacking.
To further quantify the association between schizophrenia and SD.
MEDLINE (PubMed), Embase (OVID), the Cochrane Library databases, and the PsycINFO were systematically searched for eligible studies reporting the sexual functioning in patients with schizophrenia. This meta-analysis has been registered on PROSPERO (ID: CRD42019121720, http://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO).
The relationship between schizophrenia and SD was detected by calculating the relative risk (RR) with a 95% confidence interval (CI). The GRADE-profiler was employed to rank the quality of the evidence.
10 observational studies (3 case-control studies and 7 cross-sectional studies) were finally included, enrolling a total of 3,570 participants (mean age 28.6-46.2 years), of whom 1,161 had schizophrenia and the remainders were the healthy control subjects. Our findings confirmed the potential link between schizophrenia and SD. Clinicians should routinely assess the sexual functioning for those patients with schizophrenia and further recommend the preferred antipsychotics for them.
This is the first meta-analysis investigating the association between schizophrenia and the risks of SD in both sexes. Nonetheless, substantial heterogeneities were identified across the selected studies.
Robust data from this meta-analysis showed increased rates of SD in patients with schizophrenia compared with the general populations. Is There an Association Between Schizophrenia and Sexual Dysfunction in Both Sexes? A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Scraping therapy is widely used in treating stage I and II essential hypertension in China. However, there has been no systematic evaluation of the efficacy of scraping therapy on blood pressure and sleep quality in stage I and II essential hypertension.
Seven electronic databases (PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, EBSCO, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Wanfang Data electronic databases) were searched from inception to December 2022. Based on the principle of combining subject words with text words, the search strategy was constructed around search terms for "scraping therapy," "scraping," "Guasha," "Gua sha," "hypertension," and "high blood pressure" during the database searches.
Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were included if they recruited patients with stage I and II essential hypertension and included a scraping therapy intervention. The intervention group received antihypertensive drugs and scraping therapy, while the control group only took antihypertensive drugs.
Review Manager 5.4.0 and STATA 15.1 were used to enter all the relevant outcome variables to conduct the meta-analysis. The quality of the selected RCTs was assessed using the PEDro scale. The sensitivity analysis was carried out by iteratively excluding individual studies and repeating the analysis to determine the stability of the findings and identify any studies with greater influence on the outcome. Subgroup analysis was performed to find the source of heterogeneity. Funnel plots were used to evaluate the publication bias of included studies.
Nine RCTs including 765 participants were selected. Meta-analysis showed that scraping therapy combined with medication had an advantage over the use of medication alone in lowering systolic blood pressure (mean difference [MD] = -5.09, 95% confidence interval [CI] = -6.50 to -3.67, P < 0.001) and diastolic blood pressure (MD = -2.66, 95% CI = -3.17 to -2.14, P < 0.001). Subgroup analysis showed that scraping therapy improved sleep quality in middle-aged patients with hypertension, but the efficacy was better in elderly patients (MD = -7.91, 95% CI = -8.65 to -7.16, P < 0.001) than in middle-aged patients (MD = -2.67, 95% CI = -4.12 to -1.21, P = 0.0003).
The available evidence indicates that scraping therapy has significant effects on patients with stage I and II hypertension, and it improves sleep quality for elderly patients with hypertension better than for middle-aged ones. Scraping therapy can be an adjunctive treatment for stage I and II essential hypertension.
